The Malecón of Havana, a Romantic Spot in Cuba

The biggest party in Cuba can be in a simple place of Havana, a party related to the sea, the weaves and sea foam, and the great sound the can be found in that part of the island, especially for lovers.
We are talking about the Malecón from Havana, a famous place, in particular during summer when it's necessary to mitigate the hot on that coastal area, accompanied maybe by a guitar, friends or someone you love.
It's a shiny, stylish and traditional place, standing in front of the beautiful weaves that during stormy days cross over it and run onto the streets, while the rhythm of the place made by the extension of its walls through neighborhoods looks like a wonder.
Located in front of the Caribbean, the Malecón of Havana is a symbolic and cultural place for Cubans, a place you can visit looking for fresh air. Nowadays the restoration plan is growing by the hand of the City Historian Office.
As every symbol, its more than 6 km of extension are composed by a fantastic view of the coast, different resting, cultural and entertainment establishments, such us coffeehouses and bars, that in general, are being constantly restored.
The Malecón goes from the Torreón de la Chorrera in the west side to very inside the Havana Bay, composed by different contact places so interesting as the Punta fortress.
It's a place for culture and tourism, romance and image, due to the variety of names of the streets around it: Céspedes, Maceo or Washington Avenue, Pí and Margall Avenue; patriots or different personalities that have visited it during the pass of time, becoming a static witness.
During the 18th century, the place changed its figure from a place full of undergrowth and the neighbours began to admire its charm and the sea; during the 19th century the west side was used to set up different establishments with wood made bathing houses and other places called La Playita y El Progreso.
The first plan to construct a promenade appeared in 1863 and was the idea of a military engineer called Francisco de Albear y Lara. It was a big Malecón with a layout for railroads, but this was only the initial project.
However the construction of the Malecón we know today started in 1901 under the US-Intervention. That's why the first plans where designed by US engineers and the style was more like the Riverside Drive in New York.
Due to the pass of the years and the strength of the sea, the Malecón has lost some of its initial charm, but still great tourist places such as the fountain of La Juventud close to the Cohiba and Riviera Hotels can be found around it.
Now the project of the City Historian Office pretends, apart from protecting it from storms and weaves, to provide it with its whole harmony, restore its charms, all this with establishing new places for the delight of Cubans and Tourists.
