Twenty20 cricket is a type of one-day cricket introduced by England and Wales Cricket Board during the year 2003. In twenty20 each team bats to the maximum of 20 overs only, contrasting with 50 overs for a standard one-day match. This simply means that the game could even be completed in about three hours. Twenty20 match are normally enjoyed by children and all families people.
The English first class counties take part in a Twenty20 Cup game annually. Many games are played in evening, to gain family spectators appeal. They also feature numerous musical ’stings’ for thrilling events: notice of a batsman, or the hitting a boundary. This new style of game had taken some of the cricketing world by storm. It is now ruling Australia, as it is full of action and appealing to the younger crowd. It is absolutely a good game overall.
Rules
Twenty20 game is played on general cricket grounds with the same traditional one-day rules. There are further minor changes that are listed here, which were used for first international game of 20/20 played in Australia, between Australia A and Pakistan on Jan 13th 2005 at Adelaide Oval.
20-Twenty Cricket Rules
* Twenty overs per side.
* Bowlers are restricted only to 4 overs each.
* Fielding restrictions in the first six overs - 2 fielders should be outside circle with a minimum of two stationary fielders.
* Fielding restrictions for overs 7-20 - maximum five fielders
permitted outside the circle.
* A ‘no-ball’ is worth 2 runs as the batsman gets a free run after a no-ball.
* Each side has only about 80 minutes to get through their 20 overs.
There is 15 minutes between every innings.
* There are run penalties for each over that hasn’t been bowled in the allocated time.
* The next batsman has 90 second after the fall of a wicket to get to the crease.
