How To Skateboard

Skateboarding serves to be one among the most famous sports these days, most of the young skateboarders are under the age group of 18 to 20 years. With the younger generation coming up to do skateboarding, it is wise to know the basics and tricks of this sport well in advance before giving it a try.

Before you actually start falling and try to drop in on a few ramps, you require a few simple and quick things to note. You will need the pads, the elbow pads, a nice helmet, wrist guards and knee pads. Also, you need to know the skateboard stance, if you are regular or goofy footed. It simply means that you need to find out whether you utilize your left foot or right foot forward while skating. If you make use of your right foot, then you are actually goofy but in case you use the left foot then you are the regular. You can even go ahead with whatever foot you feel comfortable skating with- regular or goofy.

Starting the push off up the shallow surface or hill is important. It has been seen that the novice skateboarders face a few problems. Firstly, their skateboard seems to get far away from the user as they push it because the users tend to make a push from the position where the feet are in sync with one another or also with pushing foot behind front foot. Rather, you need to imagine that push off is just like walking, the pushing foot needs to step in the front of foot on skateboard and further push back, just as taking the ordinary steps. The front foot needs to be behind those front bolts.

When you have actually got a little decent speed, start practicing gently, leaning your skateboard to have the right and left turns. You do not require leaning the body physically, but put more weight into the toes or heels. After some time, try to lift the front wheels a bit to have a sharper turn. You can do it by applying more weight to back tail till the time the front wheels are actually off ground. Then focus on the nose towards whatever direction you face and then put the front wheels down again. Using the tailstops also contribute a lot in learning how to skateboard. Even though this wears the board out, it serves to be a beneficial trick for learning as it is the start towards balance practicing.
