Massa, Hamilton & Raikkonen - Share the First Position in the F1 StandingsAfter the latest 60 laps British Grand Prix where Hamilton Lewis managed to crown himself as the fastest man at Silverstone with a time record of 1:39:09.440 in spite of the rainy conditions he now stands besides his most demanding rivals both Ferrari drivers; current world champion Raikkonen and pointing leader the Brazilian Massa. Since his Monaco win Hamilton had not been able to score any points until the well-deserved victory obtained over the weekend. This was indeed an outstanding driving for Hamilton whose performance was a display of skill, aggressiveness, and seniority despite his young age. Those to follow Hamilton where BMW's Nick Heidfeld who arrived in second position while Rubens Barrichello arrived third but it was very clear no one would get even close to Hamilton who controlled the race from beginning to end. Not even Ferrari‘s top driver Kimi Räikkönen who completed his laps arriving in fourth position. The three speed masters now share the first position in the current Formula One 2008 Championship standings with 48 points all; this is quite interested as the race for the title gets tighter and tighter as it moves forward especially now that there are only nine races left. Meantime; the 67-lap-race at Hockenheim in Germany will be the tie-breaker for these amazing drivers. But let’s not forget that last year’s podium positions where taken by F. Massa in second place and K. Raikkonen in third position. Of the three drivers McLaren’s driver Hamilton has been the one who has faced the most struggles throughout the season as he has overcome crashes, mechanical problems, fines, and public opinion punishments for misleading behaviour. Bur regardless he continues to shine as he did in his land last Sunday. On the other hand; Ferrari drivers Raikkonen and Massa will not miss a chance to grasp any possible points in the coming competitions especially Raikkonen who is the title defender. Another fact which could manipulate or be a positive item in the general feeling that is lived in the speedway is that the McLaren team has recently ended all sorts of spy disputes with counterpart Ferrari...as they have settled completely; this is a relief even for the drivers as the issues have been aside for good. The teams’ standings continue to be led by the Italian team Ferrari with a total of 96 points closely followed by BMW-Sauber with 82 points and in third place the McLaren team with 72 in total. The following three spots are taken by Toyota, Red Bull and Williams but the point difference between the top three and these teams stands above the 50 points. The predictions for the next race on July 20th are very strong as it is expected to see the strategies these drivers will implement in order to become the absolute number one; as well as to gain extra points for their team.
