No more famous only for its quintessential culture, tradition and the typical 'all South' food, Chennai is soon growing to be the country's focal point for the latest in and around fashion and high-end lifestyle and not just with designer labels, lifestyle stores and magazines and fashion shows...
Opening its heart to the world, Chennai is all set to welcome the International Fashion Week - the first global fashion event to be held in the city - from December 14 to December 20, 2009, at the Le Royal Meriden, Chennai. Keeping abreast with the ever-changing, dynamic fashion world, this fast growing metro has something far too exciting to look forward to the coming month. Organised by Storm Fashions, CIFW will have 10 international designers whose collections will be showcased by 10 international beauty pageant winners from several countries, walking the ramp for the first time in Chennai. Apart from this, 60 fashion shows will feature 30 Indian designers as well. If this wasn't enough to attract fashionistas from all over, CIFW will also be highlighted by the presence of sportsmen, film stars and several national and international super achievers and other celebs.
Marketing and Services professional Gaurav Sharma will head the event and Shakti Girish, Editor, Galatta Cinema; Girish Ramdas, President, Galatta.com, Arun Mammen, Meera Chopra and Pratap Pothen will be the team advisors. Atul Kelkar, Jamshed Mistry, Sangeeta Sadarangani, Sandip Soparkkar, Arjun Bajwa, Francois Lavergene, Vipul Mathur, Mehar Bhasin, Anupama Varma and Rahul Dev Shetty will be the advisors from outside Chennai.
Chennai International Fashion Week definitely promises a lot of entertainment, glamour and dazzle, apart from offering a lot more in international couture, trends, whilst giving a wonderful and vast canvas for the up and coming designers and fashionistas at a much bigger level than before.
