Fashionable in Confidence, Attitude and God!

The concept of being fashionable is to know what style works for you and then taking it to another level. Be your own trendsetter. The key is to focus on what is appealing to YOU. You should not become a cookie-cutter replica of what the mannequin looks like or what the picture in the magazine portrays. Every style is not meant for every consumer and you’ll know when something is not right for you by that feeling of insecurity you feel when wearing it. To prevent this, you’ll need to define your personal style. In order to do that, you should consult the source of your unique flavor, which is God.

The initial process in defining yourself is allowing your identity to reflect the image of Christ. In Genesis 1:26 it states, “Let us make man in our image” and “in our likeness.” This means God perfectly created you in the likeness of Him. How do you view God’s creation? Do you complain about your body, weight, height etc.? I hope not, because essentially you’re telling your Creator, “I am not satisfied with how you made me. Make me over!” God said you are “fearfully and wonderfully” made. Therefore, every imperfection is part of His perfect vision of you. Begin loving every positive feature about you and accept what you cannot change. What makes you unique makes you beautiful. Embrace your individuality because it sets you apart. Accepting who you are, and whose you are, will give you an upbeat attitude and you will begin to view yourself as God views you. Other people will begin to notice as well.

Confidence is attractive, though neither clothes nor makeup can give you self-confidence. Consumers spend millions of dollars on clothes with designer labels hoping they will make them complete and whole. Designers also spend millions trying to fool you into thinking their clothes will make you far happier than you were before you bought them. In actuality, you can wear the designer labels and still feel empty inside. Confidence starts from within. It’s like dipping a rotten apple in gold. It might be shiny, but it is still a rotten apple on the inside. If you suffer with lackluster self-confidence levels, ask the Lord to enhance that feature in your spirit. He will joyfully bless you with GODLY confidence.

Having a fashionable attitude is vital on any runway. Therefore, possessing a great attitude is essential to your image. You do not want to be perceived as stuck-up or stuck on yourself. One of the ways this comes across is when someone says something to you about what you’re wearing or your hairstyle and you slink off with your nose in the air and do not say “thank you”. You want to have the likable factor. If you find yourself doing this, keep in mind it is a compliment for someone to inquire about your taste. Clearly, it means you look good. Your wardrobe should not impair your personality. Christ-like characteristics such as kindness, joyfulness, compassion, and love should be your constant fashion accessory. Therefore, the next time someone asks about your ensemble joyfully provide store information and encourage him or her to implement the item into his or her own fashion statement. Your attitude will be most memorable!

Make every effort to stay away from the “common” look. Strive to stand apart from the pack and be an individual. It is okay to be trendy and follow what’s currently hot in fashion but do not allow trends to monopolize your look.

Above all, the perfect garment is scripture! God’s word doesn’t cost you a thing! Jesus paid it all! Clothing yourself with the promises God has made over your life is more valuable than any piece of garment you can ever own. Are you taking advantage of your Divine shopping spree?
