Vintage clothing, for many of us it conjures up images of charity shops and jumble sales with tatty items that are past their best being exchanged by people who either do not care about the way they look or are not in a position to by from the high street or designers.
This of course, could not be further from the case with people who are passionate about fashion choosing to source vintage pieces rather than buying new from a shop. For many, it is in fact something of a treasure hunt where finding the right piece is both exciting and hugely rewarding.
Collectors and vintage clothing lovers actually relish the chase that goes into finding a special item and put a lot of time and effort into sourcing such items. Of course, when a consistently good source of vintage clothing is discovered, chances are that the buyer will return time and time again in order to find more items.
One thing to remember though is that often, many unfruitful searches and dead ends are encountered before a truly wonderful source is found but again, this is just adds to the thrill of the chase. Retro clothing becomes a way of life with its lovers immersing themselves in this world that is filled with history and stylishness.
Buying vintage is not just for such regular retro lovers, there are a lot of people out there who are more than happy to integrate vintage items into their wardrobes and team them with modern items to help create their look without going over the top. Such integration can be a fantastic way of adding that finishing touch to an outfit and ensures that none of your peers will be seen wearing the same thing.
Designers and fashion students too are great lovers of vintage clothing. Many use it as a basis to inspire their future designs and collections that may well one day end up on the catwalk or in high street shops. In fact, vintage is often a staple part of any of these highly fashion conscious folk.
So who buys retro clothing? Well, it could be anybody. The thing is that vintage clothing can be utilised to suit almost any style or situation and gives the wearer something that is unique and has lasting quality and appeal that ensures that it will be a part of your wardrobe that is worn time and time again.
