Tussle
Birds were airborne high, rear to their starting. The red boiling ball is now tranquil, ready for pack up. Little air was going on. Sitting alone in the garden, I was looking towards, the firmament, the big sky.
“Rahul!, what are doing there?”
Without further ado I came from my globe, to the existing one, mother was shouting from the house. Hurriedly I rushed towards my room. Exams were near, just a couple of days. I sat on the chair, opened a book, but not a single word I can see.
“Only the vista, the scene, his face, the innocent eyes came in front of me.”
Class teacher was taking our attendance, suddenly we heard a flouting voice from the entrance.
“May I come in sir?”
“Yes come in”, sir replied in a crumb anger.
“Ravi, why are you so late? Ok, take your seat”,
But Ravi went straight to the sir, and I can witness a paper in his hand, wondering what is the matter!!.
“Sir today I am not here for the class, I want a few days leave, here is my leave application”.
Why? Sir asked,
“My mother is seriously ill”, he replied.
“Did you take her to any doctor? What did the doctor said?” Sir asked in a single breath.
Ravi was totally broken till now, his voice were struck in his throat, he replied at a snail's pace with a very heart rendering tone,
“I went to Dr Anirban Das of our Village government Hospital yesterday, but he refused to come with me. He was busy enjoying lunch with our village head. As you know, he don’t touch anyone until he is paid, although govt. give him salary. We are poor, the only sole bread earner is in the bed, father died few years back at an accident in the factory, yet to get the compensation. Now how can I and my sister manage the money?”
His voice was trembling with pain, tears were in his eyes, it seems his whole sufferings; his whole miseries are coming out with his tears, from his cavernous, very deep heart. Sir gave him a hundred rupee not and send him back, by saying “ get her admitted in the hospital”.
Today at school, I came to know that Ravi’s mother died on the way to the hospital. Some says, if Dr. Aniraban das would have attended her on time, she could have survived. During the last 24 hours, her illness became out of cure and she died with lots of pain and suffering. But that doctor, that Aniraban das has no feelings for poor. His certificate is useless, ineffectual, he could have saved her, but he did not, what a self-interested, a stone hearted, a bad, a wicked…………
“Peep peep”, abruptly I came to my own, horn of my father’s car struck my ear, my heart started beating sturdily, my veins, my blood became cold as ice, blood on my eyes, I got up from my chair, went towards the door and started shouting like crazy, loudly, very loudly……..
“I hate you papa, I hate you, you are selfish, a greedy, a monster, Dr. Anirban Das.”
