Making a university fund raising plan succeed is not an easy task, but it is certainly possible given the right strategy and the right ideas. College fundraisers, after all, are not just any ordinary fundraiser. Here, the market and the audience are significantly different, since they focus on the students. Students in universities are a varied lot, from young adults to adults.
But, the concern with a college fundraiser remains the same. How can the effort get the attention of the students? It takes more than just good ideas in order to make university fundraisers succeed. It requires adequate planning and tactics. Preparation is the key here, since these efforts cannot afford to fail.
Make Sure You Have Staff
The college fundraisers should first make sure that they have the adequate staff to help in the fundraising effort. The college fundraising activity is organized by a specific group (like a sports team or a sorority) the members of the group are automatically part of the endeavor. If the group itself will not be able to host the activity due to insufficient membership, they should look for volunteers (volunteers, however, are viable only if the fundraiser is for a universal cause, or a purpose that would benefit the majority instead of just a specific group).
Of course, getting a sufficient number of staff for the university fund raising plan is not enough. The fund raisers should then delegate the tasks to the volunteers properly. Here, the team leader or the one in charge should properly assess the tasks and responsibilities at hand, in relation to the number of manpower available. If possible, the team leader should delegate the task according to the skills and the capabilities of the volunteers. This way, no skill is wasted, and the tasks are easily accomplished.
Brilliant Ideas
What college fund raising plan and idea the organizers utilize can also make the difference between success and failure. College fundraisers rarely do activities that would reflect the purpose of their event, so the organizers can concentrate on how the activity can garner enough money instead. Still, the fundraising idea should not contradict or offend the cause of the purpose.
A fundraiser for a women's rights organization, for example, should not use women in a derogatory manner since it negates the purpose of the cause. Also, organizers should take every opportunity to inform the donors about the cause or the purpose of the fundraiser.
As for the preparation of the college fund raising activity itself, the usual preparatory regimen applies. The organizers must market the fundraiser several weeks before the actual event. This way, the students and everyone who can potentially attend the event will be able to plan their schedule, and their finances, accordingly.
If the fundraiser is abruptly held without giving people enough time to prepare, they may not be able to donate as much as if they were given ample time to prepare, or most likely they will not donate or participate at all. With the busy college schedules of students, they like to know about an event or fundraiser in time to plan it into their life.
