Are you ready to become a successful stock trader? Before anything else, it is always best to get started with the stock market basics. Stocks can be purchased and sold by anyone who can afford it. But it is important for you to know and understand how stock trading works. It may take a lot of studying since the stock trading process involves a lot of specialized vocabulary. Stock trading activities are mostly done through an intermediary. These intermediaries are called stock brokers. There are two types of stock brokers. The first one is called full-service brokers. They are the ones that can take and place orders from investors like you. They can also give you investment advices and analyses. Full-service brokers often charge higher in commission. The second type of brokers is called discount brokers. They can also take and place orders from you but they do not offer investment advices. Traders or investors who want to save money usually hire them since they charge less on commission.
Brokers offer services through online trading or broker-assisted trading. Some brokers place orders via telephones while others make orders through web-enabled cell phones or other hand-held devices. Other brokers also use in-house software for making online orders. Knowing about stock brokers is one of the most important concepts in stock market basics since you cannot start trading without working with one.
