This is the most important step. You want to track every single cent that you spend. This doesn't have to be complicated or hard to do. A small notebook and pen is a great way to keep track of all of your purchases. Carry one around with you when you leave the house. Now that you know where you are spending all of your money, you can start cutting back on non-essential purchases. You want to cut back on your expenses so that they are at least less than your monthly income. Only then will you be able to thing about putting some money aside for savings. 10% of your income in savings is a good goal.

These three simple tips will go a long way in helping you manage your money and start a budget.
