Real Estate Opportunities in Aspen, CO

Real estate in Aspen, Colorado has always been precious and treasured. Visitors of Aspen call themselves fortunate to experience the stunning city, valley, and surrounding wilderness in any season. When they call homeowners lucky we add, “not just lucky, but shrewd”.

Founded in 1880 as a silver-mining town, Aspen became the largest silver mining district in the country by 1891, and recorded a 2,350 pound (1066 kilo) silver nugget find! In 1946 the Aspen Skiing Corporation was founded and in 1950 Aspen hosted the FIS World Championships, which confirmed Aspen's status as an international resort. The rest is history!

At 7908feet (2410meters) above sea level, Aspen is a world-class ski resort and recreational mecca throughout the year. The grandeur of the natural landscape is highly protected from unchecked development. Ninety-Six percent of the Roaring fork valley is protected from development by the city, county, parks and recreation open space, and conservation easements. With highly restrictive zoning, real estate inventory is naturally and consistently scarce while Aspen’s biggest asset, land, remains protected for the enjoyment of skiing and snowboarding, rafting, fly fishing, horseback-riding, dog sledding, snowmobiling, paragliding, cross-country skiing, hiking and hot springs, golfing, mountain biking, etc.

The grandeur and awe-inspiring backdrop to Aspen is only part of what make owning Aspen real estate so prized. Culturally, Aspen has been a global, cultural destination since the Goethe Bicentennial Convocation that brought 2,000 people to Aspen in the summer of 1949. The Goethe Festival spawned many of Aspen's cultural institutions, such as the Aspen Music Festival and School, the International Design Conference, and the Aspen Institute.

These are just a few of the reasons that real estate in Aspen, Colorado has become so highly sought after. Only those “lucky” enough to live there can truly understand.
