The Top Apps for Project Management Needs

Top AppsIt’s no secret that having the right technology on hand can help ensure that your project runs smoothly and offers the best chance for success. From communication to collaboration, time tracking and everything in between, there’s a whole host of apps out there that can offer benefits, not just for project managers, but for the entire team, as well. What are these apps?
Apps for Project Management Teams
Here are some of the more important apps to know about for your team.
Evernote – It’s difficult to find something that Evernote can’t do. You’ll find that this handy app is available for both Android and iOS devices, as well as for PCs and Macs. You can share notes, pictures, audio recordings and even videos through the app. What’s more, once your note or file is uploaded, a simply click of the synch button synchronizes that information to all devices. That means there’s no need to email files or let someone know that there’s been a change. The information is there, automatically.
Collabtive – Collabtive is a cloud-based solution that offers robust benefits for managers and team members. You’ll find that this app can help with tracking your entire project, with keeping tabs on milestones and individual tasks as well. It imports to Basecamp, and can also be used for reporting and time tracking. It’s also open source.
Liferay Social Office – For those in need of widespread collaboration, Liferay Social Office is a very good choice. It’s a full virtual workspace and offers the ability to collaborate and communicate on very large scales (as well as smaller ones). Features include social document sharing and powerful communication/collaboration tools.
Google Docs – If you’re collaborating with a team, then there’s immense benefit to be found through Google Docs. First, it’s free, so you can help your budget. Second, it’s very easy to use and sharing files is a snap. Third, it works off your existing Gmail addresses, so there’s no need to create additional accounts unless someone on your team doesn’t have a Gmail account yet (but really, who doesn’t these days?).
Apps for Project Managers
While there are plenty of apps out there designed for use with teams, there are also plenty designed specifically for your needs. These include the following.
Project Planner HD – This is robust app designed for exactly what the name suggests. With this tool, you can plan virtually any project. It also offers a robust range of tools including Gantt charts and the ability to export information in a range of formats (including PNG files). However, the app also offers management capabilities – it’s not all about planning, so you can use this tool throughout the project.
SG Project – This particular app is an excellent tool for managers with multiple projects going on at the same time. You can switch between projects easily, and it’s designed to work flawlessly with the iPad (the most common tablet out there). It also supports Dropbox and sharing through other methods.
As you can see, there are plenty of apps that can benefit your team and, ultimately, your project.
