There is a lot of talk these days about free government grants for debt riddled Americans. These grants are supposed to help people with personal debt, medical bills, and mortgages. While it is true that every year billions are set aside by the federal government for grants, perhaps paying off some debts with one might not be as easy as you would think.
Government grants can be easily researched on www.grants.gov or www.cfda.gov. Running a simple keyword search on either web site will bring up lists of potential grant opportunities. But, if you read through the options, you will find out that there are few (if any at all) grants that will pay off credit cards or unsecured loans. Over time, this will depress the economy. The government would much rather ensure that its citizens have enough money to spend, guaranteeing the economy will prosper.
