What is Forex: a Look at How it Works

When one currency of a country is traded for a currency of a different country you are involved in what is called the forex market. The forex market is the most liquid financial market that there is. This market is and can be entered into by corporations that are multinational, Large banks, speculators of currency, all governments and any number of financial institutions.

The forex is for a 5 day week during the day and night and can be traded throughout while it is open. A person can make a substantial amount of money by gripping the high potential of this market. The two major forces in this market are demand and supply which are responsible for the constant fluctuations in the exchange rates being traded.

You will come across four commonly traded "currency pairs" in this market. These are the US Dollar vs Japanese Yen, US Dollar vs Swiss Franc, US Dollar vs British Pound, and Euro vs US Dollar.

The forex market trading started in the year of 1973, and today has become the most fertile money exchanging platform on this planet. Forex trade is not carried out on fixed exchange rates. The days are gone when only the big wig investors and banks could access the forex. However, with the emergence of newer technologies, even retail investors can try their hand at this market.
