Soviet Isometric Training
Soviet literature concludes "...there is not a statistically significant difference between the maximum strength, as measured in a static regime, and the maximum weight that can be lifted in the same movement." (1) According to the A.S. Medvedyev 1986. report Isometric training plays a big role in the soviet strength training programs.
Benefits of Isometric Training In Everyday Life
I know thats all good your'e saying "but I'm not an astronaut, I don't have an injury and I'm not a soviet powerlifter, how can Isometric training help me?"
I'm Glad You Asked...
Some of the General Benefits are as follows;
Increased Lean Muscle Mass Regular training stimulates the growth of new lean muscle tissue. This is vital, not only for looking good, but staying healthy as it burns fat, strengthen your bones and keeps you young.
Increased Metabolism The more lean tissue you have the faster you burn calories and the faster your metabolism becomes. Lean Muscle tissue is metabolically active it requires more calories to sustain it than fat.
Increased Fat Loss This is tied into the faster metabolism. Lean Muscle tissue requires 75 kcals to sustain it, whereas fat only requires three. This means that if you only add 5lbs of muscle you can burn an additional 20-25 lbs of fat a year doing nothing!
Decreased Risk of Osteoporosis Regular training increases the density and hardness of the bones and thus strengthening you against osteoporosis.
Lowered Bad Cholesterol Exercie produces more HDL (good cholesterol while reducing the bad LDL cholesterol. This reduces among other things your chance of heart disease.
The Benefits of Isometrics provide all of those while also providing:
Increased strength faster than any other form of training this is because it works the muscles more intensity and in a shorter space of time over conventional methods. In fact you can finish a workout in as little as 7 minutes.
Increased Neurological Strength Isometric Training teaches you body to recruit more muscle fibre for each movement, thus your increased strength comes not just form more muscle, but form more efficient muscle.
Can be done anywhere it requires no special equipment or a large commitment of time. You can do Isometric Training in your car while stuck in traffic, in the shower, even while reading this website.
Safer than conventional training Becasue it doesn't involve movement or weights, so they are far safer than any other form of exercise and often used in rehabilitation.
Dramatically improve conventional training are you getting stuck in a lift or would like to lift more? Isometric training has been proven to increase the strength in lifts such as the bench press by as much as 40% and in the Nautilus North Study with an average increase of over 84%.
These are just some of the many benefits that Isometric training can offer you.
But, wait there's more...
What if I told you that there was an Isometric training protocol that would increase the results by over 300% from normal Isolmetric Training?
In a future article I will reveal this almost "magically" muscle building secret.

I have this habit really it's more than a habit it's all the time . it's kinda hard to explain and i feel kinda dumb talking about it like i should be able to control it and just stop. but I scratch and gouge my scalp till i leave scars. I've notice i do it alot in the car and when i'm stressed but most of the time it just whenever. It hurts so bad sometimes but it's like i can't stop till i have a hole in my head. Lord help me if my fingers find an old scar... just to leave a new one. Thank god for long hair so no-body knows except the random hair dresser. i'm so tired of it.. i'm tired of the pain i'm inflicting when i'm doing it... the sting i get when washing my hair from the soap and water.. the guilt i fell when i do it.. what is wrong with me and why can't i just stop

Husband's sexual problem is hurting me/us
By: whywhywife | 19-07-2008
I am a loving wife of 4 yrs. I love my husband with all my heart and both of us have been married before. My husband has a problem in which I have found out about on many occassions. His problem is that even though he says that he loves me... he calls other women, using his cell phone and he talks to them there and on line. He gets the womens numbers on line somewhere. I have found names of women and phone numbers, written on post it notes, probably 3-4 different times in our marriage already and once, just about 8 months into our marriage, I found him writing down a woman's AOL email address, while he was on the computer. He didn't know I was come over by him and I plainly saw what he was writing and I was devastated at what I saw! I also caught him, by finding that he had a password and user name written on a piece of paper for an adult on line matching site (not like eHarmony matching, sexual matches). This was while I was doing laundry and checking pants pockets. I called the customer service number on the paper and made like I didn't know what it was and that I had mistakened it for a different company or service. I have also been in the presence of supposed wrong number calls of women announcing that they were returning his call or that he had emailed them to call or etc. Then, because I am nearby and overhear this, I of course question him on it and/or we then get into an argument, because he totally lies to me about it all. He acts like I'm some totally stupid women and that its my imagination about what it means ....the numbers, the calls, him being on line and clicking off so very quickly when he hears me coming down the hallway towards him and the computer will be in my site. We again have just gone through the same thing with the phone calls going on. I was gone on a Sunday afternoon for a couple of hours and when I came home, his phone beeped that there was a voicemail message there for him. I asked him to see who called, he was hesitant, but he did it and tried to say that it was his Mother and that he'd call her back at another time. I right away that something was not right. He was lying to me and I just knew it. That night we went to bed without anything being said about that voicemail message. But it just bothered me as I lie in bed all night long, I couldn't sleep. I felt sick to my stomach and I was hurting, because I knew I was being played and it hurt! I got up and it was 2 AM and I went in the other part of our house and with his cell phone in hand, I checked the phone numbers called and recently received. There were many phone numbers there that had an * in front of two other numbers and then a regular number. There were many phone numbers in a row, all made over the approx. 3 hr. span of time that I was gone from the home. I also saw that he had called some of those same numbers during the previous week, while he was at his office at work! I was devastated that I saw this, even though I felt so badly for snooping in his phone call records, but I had to know for myself, what was going on that day. I unfortunately found what I thought I had already knew....but that didn't hurt me any less. I confronted my husband right away, back in our bedroom. He was angry at me for looking in his phone and I told him that he couldn't deny what I found....I even repeated what one of the women says on her voicemail message, so he knew that I truly had caught him now. I was hurt, scared and needing to talk to someone, but not family, because I WAS embarrassed. I was torn, do I go or do I stay with this man that I love, but after all of this, I feel like I am nothing.....I am not the woman that he wants. I went to see a counselor by myself, I needed someone to listen and help me with this problem and come to an answer for myself. The counselor asked for my husband to come to my next session. I ended up asking my husband to come, but not until I got the nerve up to ask him finally. He asked why did she want him there? I just said that she asked for him to come along and that I needed for him to come..for us! I expressed that I didn't know if I could stay married to him or not, since I was truly hurt and crying a lot for 3-4 days. I wanted to die, that is how much I was hurting, I wanted to be out of the situation and never hurt like that again, this was the last time I could let this happen to me. My husband had agreed to come and he did attend the session with my counselor. The counselor spoke with my husband for a while and then she asked him if he loved me, he said yes, but that he doubted if I now loved him and then she proceeded to be straight with him and tell him that he has a sexual addiction. She talked to him about it and I felt better because I didn't feel like it was ME. It was an addiction and we would need to work on this.....together if we wanted to and I agreed. I need to know more about this sexual addiction and how and why men do this and they hurt their wives and family. How do I help him stop and I want to be there to help him stop. Give me some advice on this problem, the cause and the cure. I'd like to hear from other women, that have had to deal with this addiction with their husbands. I need advice and other stories to feel that I am not alone! Thank you! Whywhywife
I need to gain weight
By: b7532 | 19-07-2008
Hello, I am Brooke and I am 15. I also am 5'8 and 115 lbs. I am an athlete, so I need to gain some weight. I eat way more than normal proportions, but I mainly stick to eating health foods. Everyone is saying that this is just the way I am, but I am sick of being so skinny! I really would like to gain some muscle and some fat as well. My coaches tell me to go to the gym so I do, but I never get any results. I also think that I am remaining so skinny because I am under a lot of stress, but even when I am not I still don't gain any weight. So if you could e-mail me back that would be great. My e-mail address is B_Cruickshank@Hotmail.com
Aggression and impulse control problems
By: bluebird | 19-07-2008
someone close to me has changed radically. theyve become aggressive and are battling impulses to hurt themselves or others, and basically say they feel like doing some crazy stuff (although they do recognize that they dont think most people want to do these things) they say everyone is provoking them(whether they are or not) and seem suspicious of everyone and everyones motives.I dont know how to help them and because they are so suspicious they are not willing to talk about it openly with proffessionals as they fear the repercussions (and believe being in the health system in dangerous).but they clearly need help (and want to find some)-just dont seem to have any faith.Depression has definately been an ongoing issue-that seems to be relevent now for them. How can we get some help? Also wondering how know the difference between 'illness'/agressive tendancies as opposed to 'anti-social behaviour' ones. thanks for advice.

Motivational Strategies for Your Workouts so You Finish Every Time

Staying motivated is a key factor to having success in the gym. As they say, most people are good starters but poor finishers. This is because it is easy to get fired up and excited about a future goal you want to attain, such as trying to get in shape and build muscle fast, especially when you flip through a bodybuilding magazine or see a role model with a body like the one you want.
