OK, we're not talking about our ability to balance on a thin beam here, or walk a tightrope. We are talking about the natural balance of our bodies inasmuch as the body as an organism being in balance.
The human body is truly a wonderful thing. When we are born our body is almost always in perfect balance. I say almost always as there is the chance of a genetic defect, or an illness contracted in the womb. These are overall rare occurences, and a balanced body is a body that does not often go wrong i.e. get ill.
Therefore it is true that a body that is in balance rarely, if ever, gets a yeast infection. This is because we are naturally surrounded by yeast organisms all the time. It is present in all of us, and it is all around us. Yeast is an exremely common organism. We just don't notice it when we are in balance.
It becomes a problem only when the natural "good" bacteria in our bodies is insufficient to keep the yeast in check. So we can see that it is not necessarily the case of having too much yeast in the body, but rather a case of not having enough "good" bacteria to keep it under control.
There can be a variety of reasons why our bodies become imbalanced enough to be unable to fight off these infections. One common reason is the traking of antibiotics, maybe for an unrelated condition, for a period of time. The problem with antibiotics is that they are indiscriminate in their action. They are just as effective at killing off "good" bacteria as any other.
Then, even when we stop taking the antibiotics we are left in an unbalanced state which leaves us susceptible to yeast infections, amongst others. This state of imbalance can also be caused by having another illness that the body is having to fight, thus depleting our immune system. The birth control pill can also have this effect.
So it doesn't take an Einstein to realize that we need to get the body back into balance to combat the infection. We can do this naturally, starting with our diet. Making sure we eat the right foods and not eating the wrong foods. Eat plenty of vegetables and try to include lots of raw foods into your diet. Natural yoghurt is excellent, eat at least one good portion each day. I'm talking about the pure, natural yoghurt here, not the sugared, flavoured variety. Sugar is wonderful food for yeast infections.
Cut as much sugar as possible out of your diet. You'd be amazed at how much sugar is contained in many of the foods we buy. Try reading the labels when shopping and you'll see what I mean.
Also keep your body well hydrated. It is a fact that many of us are marginally dehydrated most of the time. We don't drink enough water. Even the often stated eight glasses a day may not be sufficient for some of us. Remember that thirst is a bad indicator. By the time we feel thirsty we are already mildy dehydrated. Make yourself drink water at regular intervals.
You may also wish to consider taking a probiotic on a daily basis to build up the level of "good" bacteria in your system. There are many of these on the market, all do a similar job. A quick search will point you in the right direction.
Doing all these things on a regular basis will rapidly restore your body to its rightful balance, and help you rid yourself of that awful yeast infection, and prevent them recurring.
