I get tired of reading in body building forums about Isometric training and how they, these "internet experts" believe it doesn't work. They never offer up an facts or proof, just their opinion. Which they proudly pronounce it as if it were GOD's word!

Well folks, here are the facts read em and weep OR get excited!

I would like you to take a moment to read this entire article, this is not some rehash of the same subject. In this article I will break it down for you and give you all the facts.

Here's a short snip from an article published by NASA-

Isometric Training In Space

"Strength training, says Fitts, involves two different types of resistance exercises: high-intensity isotonics, which shortens and lengthens muscles (for example, lifting and lowering a dumbbell), and isometrics, which fully contracts muscles without movement (for example, pushing against a doorway). Both types of exercise could potentially reduce muscle atrophy in microgravity. Fitts' experiments with rats, however, suggest that isometrics may protect slow fibers better than isotonics because slow fibers develop very little force during relatively fast isotonic motions."

Hmm, sounds to me as the boys in space are using what workds to build strength.

Isometric Training On Earth

Oh wait here's another one for the ladies, just in case you thought Isometric training was just for men. This a small part of an interview with Jane Seymour the actress regarding how she stays in incredible shape.

"Lifetime: What is your exercise of choice these days?

Seymour: Isometrics. I used to throw my back out often. A couple of years ago, it got so bad that I couldn't move. It turned out I had a herniated disc. That's the kind of injury you expect to see in a linebacker in the Super Bowl, not in a woman who weighs 115 pounds.

I had to have surgery. My doctor recommended isometrics to help my recovery, so I've been doing it for two years." With isometrics, you have to focus on your body's alignment and engaging the muscles. I get more out of isometrics than crunches.

It has given me really strong stomach muscles, and I have a longer, leaner look than before. I really wasn't concentrating on looking good with isometrics that was just a by-product. The main thing is that it has helped with my back pain. I don't need a chiropractor or a masseuse."

I guess Isometric training is being used for rehabilitation. But, then what do doctors know!

In Part 2 I will reveal what Olympic Teams thru out the world think about Isometric Training

Basiclly I let the stress of a job I had eat me up I let her down and I let myself down and I feel like I am a failure. Any advice I would appreciate. Trap
By: Julia | 20-08-2008
I am so depressed. I live in Dubai for the past 10 years and life here sucks.Hate the weather, hate the law, country is flat, dusty ,ugly and has no soul..I miss rain, lakes, mountains , greenery and freindly people. There are too many third world country people here. Living with their mentality and attitude is the hardest. I can't wait to leave and begging my husband for the past 3 years to do something so that we all can leave . He is so reluctant to leave as the salary he is getting here is a lot. I know he can't get the good salary package anywhere else in the world but I can't imagine spending 20 more years here till his retirement age. I cried everyday. He is not doing anything. I am considering divorce or suicide....living here is so painful to me, I can't take the depression that I am going through. Help me. What should I do?

A girl who needs some help
By: mandy | 20-08-2008
Hi, my name is Mandy. I am 20 yrs of age and studying Psychology. I dont have the best background. My great grandfather was institutionalised for being 'crazy', my dads family suffer from severe psychotic depression most of which are institutionalized. My parents recently split and my dad attempted suicide twice and was hospitalised and is now out. He also has a slight case of OCD and everyone says that he is not right. My sister has an eating disorder and oldest brother has severe adhd and image issues. I suffered from an eating disorder earlier on and depression for some time. because i believe in getting better and know that i am smart and have insight i saw a psychologist and began to help myself. Certain things have happened in my life, sexual/physical abuse by two different family members that do make me angry and sad sometimes. I used to not feel so much, now all of a sudden i will have bursts of anger or anxiety and go off for NO reason at all. It has gotten so bad that my family, friends and boyfriend comment on it and believe i should get help. im aware soemthing is wrong. I ended up in hospital a couple months ago with an overdose of 49 dexamphetamines. i guess i wanted to feel better but im not too sure or haven't admitted it to myself yet. I know something is wrong but i dont know what to get help for. all i have are all these symptoms of anger, severe mood swings, hostility, and i guess i try to make others hurt sometimes if i am going to admit it to myself. controlling, manipulative, hold grudges, irrational, manic, depressed, when something goes wrong, the slightest fight i think of suicide. i think i just need some help, i need a name so i can get some control and stop it ruining my relationships and life because im better than that. Thanks.
