When most people think about yeast infections, it's only natural tothink about the well known fact that women get them and it's a "womens problem."
OK, so far so good, and there is a very good reason for that supposition. Let's face it the vagina does provide the almost ideal situation for yeast to thrive and grow.
However, it is also a fact that men get yeast infections too. It is quite plausible that the reason many women have recurrent infections is because it is being passed to and fro with their sexual partner.
Let's look at male yeast infections and what natural steps that can be taken to prevent and cure them.
It's no great shock to discover that the most common area for a man to be infected is the male "member". Symptoms will include some discolouration, and a yeasty smell that is pervasive and difficult to get rid of. Because of the differences of the male body however, they are spared some of the more distressing symptoms, such as internal irritation.
Of course, in common with women, men can get yeast infections in other areas of the body as well. Yeast is present on all of us, and just needs the right conditions to multiply out of control. The armpits, groin, and anal area being amongst the favourites. As soon as conditions are favourable, yeast will take advantage of them.
Again, as in women, the reasons that men get yeast infections are pretty much the same. Usually an imbalance in the body. As mentioned before, we all have yeast on and in our body, that's perfectly natural. Most of the time our body's natural balance is sufficient to prevent it becoming a problem. The "good" bacteria keeping the rest in check.
The body is very good at this, which is why we don't very often in the scheme of things have problems. When an imbalance does occur, perhaps due to an ilness or over enthusiastic use of antibiotics, the good bacteria are reduced to the point where they can no longer keep the yeast in check. Which, once it has gotten hold, is remarkably difficult to get rid of.
To use a cliché, the "typical" male will go to a pharmacy to buy an over the counter preparation to treat his yeast infection. These may well alleviate the symptoms, but actually do little or nothing to treat the underlying cause. He may go to a doctor, the unenlightened of whom will maybe prescribe antibiotics, actually doing more harm than good.
The key to treating male yeast infections is the same as women. We must restore the natural balance of the body. Do not take antibiotics if at all possible, embark upon a diet which includes as much raw food as possible, exercise, and drinking plenty of water. Most of us are in a state of mild dehydration all the time.
Whilst on the subject of diet, natural pure yoghurt and garlic are a great help in the cure and prevention of this distressing condition. Yes, it may take a little while, but persevering with this natural option is the best key to your curing yeast infections for good.
