Speed Your Metabolism and Burn Away Fat

Author: Andrew Bicknell Author Ranking Gold | Posted: 20-07-2007 | Comments: 0 | Views: 394 | Rating:  (164) Article Popularity - Blue (?) Got a Question? Ask.

Increasing the speed of your metabolism is probably one of the easiest and best ways to lose fat naturally. Form many people this may sound easy but the only way to really do this successfully is to make some lifestyle changes that involve diet and activity levels. In a society looking for the quick fix this tends to fall on deaf ears.

Metabolism is the process by which the body burns calories to fuel its daily functions and is the process by which nutrients in the food we eat are broken down in our cells to produce energy for these functions. Metabolism is controlled by the thyroid gland in the neck, which in turn is governed by a part of the brain called the hypothalamus. It is generally measured according to your basal metabolic rate (BMR), which is your resting metabolism.

Speeding up the metabolism creates some benefits that will maintain weight loss progress. You will obviously speed up the process at which your body converts food and stored fat into energy and consequently you loose weight. You need to start with your eating patterns. Even a slight increase in your metabolic rate will speed up fat loss over many months without strict dieting. By eating the proper foods and maintaining a good exercise program you should be able to speed up your fat-burning furnace.

There are things you can do to rev up your metabolism, say nutrition experts; just as there are things that won't work at all. The idea that fasting or skipping meals regularly is a great way to cleanse the system of impurities, speed metabolism, and encourage weight loss is just another myth. It may sound simple and boring, but there's good reason that balanced diets are what the nutrition experts always recommend.

One of the best ways to speed your metabolism is with regular exercise combined with a diet recommended by nutrition experts. Natural foods with high nutritional value take more processing power (calories) to extract all those vital nutrients the body needs to run at peak efficiency. You still must have your overall fitness and nutrition plan in line with the goals you want to achieve and the more you know about how your body responds to your lifestyle choices, the better you can customize a nutrition and exercise plan that is right for you.

Carrying out the decision to lose weight is a tough thing to do, especially if you don't now how to do it. By incorporating a healthy and sensible diet along with an exercise program you can begin to speed your metabolism and start losing weight permanently.
