Swansea Leisure Centre, or LC2 as it is known, opened in March 2008 after a major refit and is now one of the city’s main tourist attractions. It has many unique features, ranging from the Boardrider (the world’s first deep water standing wave machine) to the largest health and fitness centre in Wales.
Undoubtedly, the main attraction is the centre’s water park. This has something for everyone, especially the kids. It features numerous slides and rides, a network of pools and also a wave pool. Popular with the kids is the Masterblaster, a roller coaster type ride where riders are blasted uphill by a jet of water. A truly adrenaline packed experience.
The health and fitness centre has more than 180 Technogym stations. These are spread over two floors and have breathtaking views of Swansea. If fitness classes are more your thing, then there are over 50 to choose from. These include Yoga, Thai Chi, Pilates, Boxercise, Circuit Training and Aerobics. So there really is something to suit all tastes.
But that’s not all. For the less active amongst us there is also the Spa area. As you would expect, this are includes sauna, steam room, aromatherapy room, heated stone loungers and treatment rooms.
And for the children there is the aquatic themed play area. This space includes a 30ft climbing wall – enough to challenge climbers of all abilities.
Add the fact that there is a multi-purpose sports and exhibition hall and you will see that this truly is a well-designed space for the 21st century.
