Why to Exercise With Your Partner?

In the Gym

I am sure we all love to show off once in a while, right? It does not matter whether it is at school, at work, or in the gym. We strive to always impress others with our skills and talents. Do not you feel good about yourself when you know that you are working out very hard in the gym and there is somebody next to you who is watching you? This can really motivate many people to work out even harder. You and your partner can always help each other while in the gym. While you are lifting weights for example, he could be standing next to you for support, and vice verse. Keep in mind that many fitness halls have special discounts for couples so take advantage of it.

Yoga

I have no doubt that you have already read and heard enough about the benefits of yoga. Doing yoga together with your partner can really strengthen your relationship. Yoga will not only improve your physical shape, but it will also bring you to a spiritual unity, which you definitely need in order to become even closer to each other.

Spinning

Spinning is also a good option for couples who prefer to have fun in social environment. To not even talk about the 600-800 calories that you both would burn for a 40 minute session. Remember that fitness produces hormones that unlock the feeling of happiness and reduce the level of stress. You will feel a lot happier and more satisfied after an intense spinning session together with your partner.

Dance

Dancing is a great way of exercising, especially if you have a partner. While learning how to dance salsa, mambo or tango, you will also increase your heart rate and burn a lot of calories. An additional advantage of knowing how to dance: you will be glowing with your skills at the next wedding you are invited to.

Jogging

When you are jogging together with your partner try to push each other all the time. In every couple one of the partners is always a better runner. He/she is the one who always sets the bar higher and the other one is always trying to reach it. Remember that you not only need to make yourself fitter but also to make your partner better. If you both do not like fitness halls that much you could always go and play tennis, badminton, or squash. These sports are very competitive and will burst the passion between you.

The Basic Rules of Fitness for Couples

1. Before you start exercising together you both MUST determine your fitness level. If one of you is an active athlete and the other one the exact opposite, you will have to find the balance and pick a program that will be useful for both of you

2. Improvise- Try the exercises that your partner likes, and show him/her the ones you think are effective. Compromises in the gym will make you more tolerant and will make your relationship stronger.

3. Often the men are the ones who disapprove of their wife's dieting schedule. However, if you have started a fitness program together it would be good to try to balance your eating habits. It is proved that couples who share the same fitness programs are concerned not only with their own food intake, but also with their partner's as well.

Remember that during exercising our body produces the hormone endorphins. These hormones make us happy. As Reese Witherspoon said in the movie Legally Blond, "happy people do not kill their husbands." Happy people also tend to fight less with their partners. That is why you HAVE to keep exercising and if possible together with your partner.
