DIY Cooker Troubleshooting

A kitchen is never really a kitchen without an electric cooker. Ever since its inception, it has been a staple in all kitchens the world over. This is primarily because electric cookers allow people to cook food in a much shorter period of time.

Electric cookers work by maintaining a high level of pressure inside. Since there is even pressure inside, the food is also cooked evenly. Of course this is only possible if all parts of the electric pressure cooker are well kept and free from any cracks or tears.

Unfortunately, as with all things subject to wear and tear, there will come a time when you would need to have your pressure cooker repaired. Not all wear and tears, however, would warrant a visit to your electric cookers service center. Some are so simple that you can do it by yourself. Keep in mind that you should only repair your cooker if you are fully aware of what the problem is. Otherwise, it would be better to leave it to someone who knows what to do.

Before you start your repair, you need to have all your tools and materials ready. If you think you would need to replace some parts like the gasket, make sure that you have the needed cooker spare parts already with you. Make sure that you have your cooker unplugged to prevent the possibility of electrocution. Remove screws and bolts and set them aside. It is advisable to have some spare screws and bolts ready just in case you lose some of the original screws.

Once you are inside the cooker, remove any wire connectors and, with the use of a multi-tester, check whether the wires are transmitting electricity. Test the leads also to make sure that it is able to conduct heat. If there is a need to replace parts, take out your electric cooker spare parts and follow the instructions on how replacements should be made.

With many electric cookers out in the market, replacing a part, even if it is just the cooker handle, may cost more than buying a new one. If this is the case, do not bother with buying a spare part anymore and just get a new unit. You might even be lucky enough to get additional functionalities.
