Many people believe that when you go on holiday to (small) islands you are bounded to the local kitchen or you have to stick to the dining rooms in the hotels if you want something you are familiar with.

Nothing is further from the truth when it comes to Curacao.

Curacao, a a former colony of the Dutch, is beautiful island in the Caribbean. At Curacao they speak Dutch, Spanish, English and the beautiful local language Papiamento. Another nice know about is that the government is very stable at Curacao. And on top of it, when it comes to Curacao restaurants, you'll have a huge choice of dishes at Curacao.

First of all, Curacao has it's own local kitchen, Krioyo food. Especially for the tourists that love to taste the Creole culture, it is highly recommended to go to one of the local restaurants at Curacao. One of the highlights here is kabritu, which is the meat of goat, which has a very strong taste. But do for sure not forget the concho marinated in Krioyo sauce. When prepared with love you will almost eat you fingers, that wonderful it tastes.

Secondly, with it's many hotels, the tourist that wants to keep the dinner experience within what he knows from home, is perfectly served here. Many hotels have hired good chefs from Europe, but as well there are some local chefs that really can outdo themselves and make your evening a food stylish experience.

And if you really must or your kids are crying too loud for it, you can find here as well a burger king, KFC, pizza hut or Mac Donald's.

But last and not in the least place, for the fine taster that wants more then just the normal dishes, Curacao is filled with top restaurants that can give you an evening with an unforgettable experience of haut cuisine.

You can find at this lovely romantic island Curacao, restaurants where they will serve you the best sushi Japanese style. But you will find as well, Chinese restaurants, Italian restaurants, Curacao ribs and chips style, apple bee style restaurants, Colombian restaurants

And for the real 'haute cuisine' lovers?

Curacao would not be Curacao, without the best of the best restaurants, where chefs of top level are working on their creations like special dishes with kobe or wagyu meat. This meat is from cows that have been massaged, have special food, have extra space for moving purposes and even get 2-3 times a week beer served (how about that). And this all is done, to get the cows meat extra soft and gentle to become the best beef on your plate. This is meat that will almost melt in your mouth.

OR what to think about the goose lever specials, asparagus or lobsters, served in many sublime ways. To go on and on about the specials and exclusive dishes would be to much.

I think you might now start to see how exceptional special you can eat on the island of Curacao and that the prejudices that food on islands would be so different then you are used to is totally misplaced. You can experience local Curacao dishes but as well go for an extreme food experience at the top restaurants that Curacao for sure can offer you.
