Don't underestimate the power of a simple beverage coaster. This small item is a very important part of the decor in a room. While such a small addition is not overpowering or dominant, when you have a beverage coaster set on your coffee table, it can do a lot to enhance your decorating scheme. It can fit in with the overall decor adding a touch of elegance or it can provide the contrast that brings out the rest of the room.
You can create many different effects with beverage coasters with the many different styles and designs that are available. Vibrant coaster sets can add contrasting colors to the room or evoke images of exotic locations in the minds of your guests. Such items are not expensive, which means you can have them to match any occasion or have them imprinted with vivid scenes that look like miniature paintings.
They don't all have to be the same color or have the same imprint on them. The main thing you should look for when buying drink coasters is absorbency. This quality will protect your furniture because the coaster will absorb the liquid that condenses on the outside of the glass and prevent it from running onto your table and ruining the surface. You can have a beverage coaster set in an attractive holder as an ornament on your coffee table.
Guests will reach for one of these to lay their drinks on. It is a subtle way of telling them that you would prefer that they not lay the glass directly on the table. You can also have the table coasters scattered on various tables in the room so that they are available to use whatever chair you or a guest sits on. A beverage coaster can become a conversation piece when you have a set with unusual designs or a set made from different material.
Sandstone coasters are very natural, yet the colors can be so vibrant that they will surely be noticed and talked about. Choose beverage coasters from this material that have designs etched on them or choose ones that can be called pieces of art in themselves. Those made with China slate; for example, seem as if the colors form a map of the world. No two drink coasters in a set will be the same because of the natural colors of the stone.
Glass beverage coasters look and feel very delicate, but they are quite strong. While the liquid will not soak into a glass beverage coaster, there is a lip around the edge that will keep the water inside. This water will evaporate naturally into the air, just as it does in the sandstone coasters. Other types of coasters you can look at are those made from leather, ceramic, marble and tile. All are very elegant in their design and can be imprinted with any design you wish.
Businesses are realizing the value of the printed coaster as an advertising medium. Instead of giving out pens and other items at trade shows, they are turning to beverage coasters as gifts for clients and potential customers. It is one item that will be used and when imprinted with the company name or logo, it will bring the business into many different places that would not have been possible otherwise.
