FIFA world cup trophy is here in Kenya

The most cherished trophy in all sporting games, the FIFA world cup, is finally here in Kenya. The trophy has been on tour in the African Continent courtesy of the coca cola company. Starting the journey from the FIFA headquarters in Zurich, Switzerland the trophy passed over the Mediterranean Sea to enter the African continent air space through North Africa. From the Northern side the trophy flew over the Sahara desert to swiftly land at the West Africa region.

The trophy later made a short flight to enter the Central Africa area surrounded with cheers and jubilations. From there, the trophy has now made its way and arrived safely in East Africa. After a couple of days it will head down south where the trophy’s journey will culminate in South Africa, the very place where the games will be held next year.

Along the way the trophy has defied all odds and entered the countries under civil war unrest, touched the political stable countries, literally breathed the air of countries that have experienced coup detat and been in nations under coalition governance and more importantly it has come within an eye viewing distance to the countries that have never even taken part in the world cup games. It’s surely a feeling that no amount of words can express.

Before the world cup, the greatest sporting accolade to ever step in Kenya is with no doubt the Olympic gold medals that our very own homegrown athletic talents bring hanging and swinging in their necks. Kenya as of now may not be taking part in next years world cup but if one thought that this was going to get in the way of overshadowing this feeling magnificent feeling, well they got it very wrong.

There are only two places where football fans are likely to come together this Saturday. It can either be at Nyayo Stadium to view the trophy or at Moi International Sports Stadium viewing the national team Harambee Stars play Super Eagles of Nigeria in a must win match. Wherever you will be, enjoy yourself.
