Suspended NFL quarterback Michael Vick's bankruptcy case continues to be on trial. His attorney Paul Campsen submitted a new repayment plan, which would funnel more of his future pay to his creditors.
In the original plan, Vick was considered promising to return to court in order to obtain high-income. Moreover, his property, mainly including two houses and a number of cars, was overvalued. So all things comsidered, these facts are not encouraging to Vick.
Under the new plan, 10 percent of the first $750,000 that Vick earns would go to creditors, and he has agreed to liquidate a house that's under construction in Virginia. If Vick doesn't return to the NFL, the new plan would give creditors a portion of whatever he earns from a lower-paying job.
NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell won't negotiate the ban untill the Vick finished his probation. Some teams are wating for the final result.
If Vick wants to change his financial situation, then he'd better sign some team in the future. He had been earning $10 per hour in a construction job since leaving the federal penitentiary in Leavenworth, Kan., in May. But the problem is not solved far away. NFL is the only way out, maybe. Unless he can hunt high-paid job.
Under Vick's bankruptcy plan, creditors would receive a percentage of any income above $750,000 per year, and their cut has increased under the revisions. The sliding-scale percentages would be increased as follows:
a $750,000 to $2.5 million in earnings, from 20 percent under the old plan to 25 percent under the new one.
b $2.5 million to $10 million, from 25 percent to 30 percent.
c Over $10 million, from 33 percent to 40 percent.
The court will hear the new plan in August 27. Anyhow, it's a long way to Vick, isn't it?
