NFL- Giants lose again, this time to the Cardinals 24-17

The Giants have lost for a second consecutive week, this time against their NFC rivals, the Arizona Cardinals, 24-17 on Sunday. Antrel Rolle intercepted a pass to Eli manning with less than a minute and a half on the clock and stole the game. The win pushes the Cardinals to first place in the NFC West with a 4-2 record; the loss, on the other hand, has not dropped the Giants from first with 5-2 in their division. The game started with back-and-forth scoring between the teams. The locals opened the score with a 4 yard run by Brandon Jacobs, starting with a 7-0 score in favor of the Giants. The Cardinals responded with a 13 yard touchdown by Beanie Wells to tie the score 7-7. The Giants, however, were quick to react with a 62-yard pass from Eli manning to Hakeem Nicks. Nicks grabbed the ball out of the air and ran into the end zone, giving the Giants a 14-7 lead with 2:09 left in the first half. But with just seconds left on the clock, Manning passed long to Mario Manningham, who was intercepted by Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie. The Cardinals gained a chance to cut the score when Neil Rackers kicked a 30-yard field goal, ending the first half with a score of 14-10. The Giants lost their oomph in the second half, making sloppy plays and one too many mistakes. Their only addition to the scoreboard was a 20-yard field goal by Lawrence Tynes. Eli Manning, who went unprotected, played poorly, losing for balls and adding three interceptions. He was harassed by defender Adrian Wilson, whose nightmarish assault led the quarterback into committing the interceptions. The Cardinals, on the other hand, boasted a great defense and enjoyed strong leadership from their quarterback, Kurt Warner. Warner completed 20 of 36 passes for 231 yards with one touchdown and one interception. Running back Tim Howard went one yard to arrive in the end zone, while Warner sent a 6-yard pass to Jason Wright that finished the game in favor of the Cardinals. The Giants had the chances to win the game, but poor execution on the part of Eli Manning and the rest of his team led to the loss. Ahmad Bradshaw mishandled a drive with 3:52 left, and Manning allowed an interception with 1:08 left, eliminating the team’s opportunities to force overtime. Giants coach Tom Couglin acknowledged the problems his team was facing. “It’s frustrating. This week, it was the offense. We didn’t really have any rhythm. We had a chance to overcome it all. Anytime you turn the ball over four times you're not going to have much of a chance to win. That's what we did tonight,” Couglin stated. The next game for the Cardinals will be against the Carolina Panthers on November 1st. The Giants will face the Philadelphia Eagles on the same day.

When the Jacksonville Jaguars look back on this season, they might point to two games against AFC South-rival Houston. And two miscues by Texans running back Chris Brown. David Garrard threw two touchdown passes, had his first turnover-free game in a month and the Jaguars stayed in the AFC wild-card hunt with a 23-18 victory over injury-depleted, turnover-prone Houston on Sunday.

England may have an easy group, but the 5 time world cup winners Brazil don’t have such an easy ride. Brazil are drawn in group G with Portugal, Ivory Coast and North Korea.

World Soccer- Switzerland Stuns Nigeria in Finals and Claims World Cup Championship U-17

By: Ally White | 19/11/2009 | Soccer
Switzerland was proclaimed World champion U-17 over Nigeria in Abuja on Sunday, after beating the hosts 1-0. This victory means Switzerland’s first world soccer crown at any age level, not to mention that they ruined the party for the locals, who were expected to take their fourth world title at home. The Swiss haven’t done this well in Soccer since they reached the Olympic Finals in Paris, 1924.
