Rainey Brings the Sun Out for the Gators
It was Florida’s spring game and it was time to see what Chris Rainey could do. Could he live up to the hype? The answer was a resounding “YES!” He made one mistake by not starting the 40 yard dash because he was confused, but that was the first and last mistake Rainey made. He followed up by running the fastest 40 yard dash of his career at 4.24 seconds, beating the rest of the field by five yards.
After that, he ran for 75 yards and a touchdown, then a 65 yard reception after which he went on to score again. He was definitely the star of Florida’s annual spring game and lived up to his reputation. With Percy Harvin out due to surgery, Rainey’s performance is crucial.
Even though Tebow had been sick with a fever and stomach flu for the past couple of days, you would never know it by the way he connected with Rainey. For the most part it was smooth sailing.
As for the defense, Carlos Dunlop did well with 4 sacks for the Blue team and Emmanuel Moody led the orange team with 111 yards rushing and a touchdown. Moody’s only flaw in the game was a fumble at the 1 yard line.
Time will tell who will be doing what for the Gators, but Rainey stood head and shoulders above the rest. Sometimes you can believe the hype. Rainey is ready and the sun is starting to shine brighter for the Gators.
