Sports Radio 850 The Buzz and 620 The Bull Set To Kick Off 2009 Edition of Friday Night Football Presented by Capital Bank

The Triangle’s top sports-talk radio stations, 850 The Buzz (WRBZ) and 620 The Bull (WDNC), have announced the first three match-ups for the 2009 edition of Friday Night Football Presented by Capital Bank, one of the largest community banks in North Carolina.  Friday Night Football is the radio stations’ weekly play-by-play coverage of the local high school football game of the week.

Entering its second season, Friday Night Football Presented by Capital Bank will start at 7 p.m. and feature a weekly match-up of local teams within the Triangle.  Market sports veteran Drew Smith will call the games along with 850 The Buzz’s Jerod Brooks and Brian Kennedy in the booth and on the sidelines, respectively.

Garner at Millbrook will kick off the 2009 slate with an Aug. 21 matchup on 850 The Buzz.  The Aug. 28 gridiron battle will feature Garner at Broughton on 850 The Buzz and on Sept. 4, Southern Durham will travel to Wake Forest-Rolesville and be featured on 620 The Bull.

“The response to our local high school football coverage last year was overwhelming,” said 850 The Buzz/620 The Bull General Manager Brian Maloney.  “Coaches, players, parents and sponsors have embraced our efforts to spotlight local youth each week and we are grateful for their continued support.”
