The Finger of Bud Adams

This past weekend, the Tennessee Titan's victory was overshadowed by a controversy involving their owner, Bud Adams. After the Titans had secured a certain victory, Mr. Adams celebrated by raising his middle finger in the direction of the opposing team.

Mr. Adams may have gotten away with this, but unfortunately for him, the commissioner of the NFL happened to be attending this game, and the video was uploaded to YouTube and other video sharing sites in a matter of seconds.  The video has already received thousands of views, and there are talks of a fine for Mr. Adams.

This conduct stuns the American audience, but European football (we call it soccer over here) had their own middle finger scandal back in September when referee Massimo Busacca "flipped the bird" to crowds during a match. This got Busacca a 3 game ban, and he apologized for his "unsporting gesture." Later in the year, the Swiss referee again found himself in hot water when he was caught urinating on the field while in Qatar.

Bud Adams has released a statement saying

"I do realize that those types of things shouldn't happen,  I need to specifically apologize to the Bills, their fans, our fans and the NFL. I obviously have a great deal of respect for Ralph Wilson and the history we have shared. I also understand there will probably be league discipline for my actions and I will accept those."

What's your opinion? Does Bud Adams deserve a fine for his conduct this past weekend?
