A new website is now on the seen which offers an afordable way for all of us to obtain quality art to place in our homes, fyneart.com produces quality work, focusing on photo to paintings, and photo to canvas, the artist (James Martin) who lives and paints in Argyll, Scotland produces amazing portraits, on the site you can see detailed examples of photographs turned into paintings, an excellent gift for a bride or new mother or to anyone for that matter who wants a family portrait to hang in there home without breaking the bank to do so.

fyneart.com may be new on the web as of March 2008 but have been producing and selling art through other avenues for many years.

The Artist is James Martin, born and raised in Scotland by the shores of Loch Fyne where he and his family still live.
James has been painting for over 25 years and has sold paintings to many satisfied customers from as far a field as Hong Kong, Italy and more recently in Germany, although James now prefers to focus his talent to portraits, he is equally at home painting landscapes and seascapes.

James now concentrates mainly on his digital paintings rather than on traditional and has become very proficient in that medium. With over 18 years of experience in digital media and the leaps forward taken in software and hardwares in the last 5, James produces his finest work yet.

Often is the case where digital artists like James are mistaken for artists who use the likes of photoshop software etc as there sole medium, this should not be mistaken for that but instead each stroke caresses the canvas as sensitively and precisely as a traditional brush would, each photo to painting taking between 10 and 15 hours to complete and using not only his digital skills but calling upon years of experience as a watercolourist
and acrylic artist

well worth a visit to www.fyneart.com so spread the word, this is a website that is here to stay.

WW II Pencil Sketches by Robert Helmick ???
By: Mark Ramsland | 12-07-2008
Has anyone ever heard of a WW II artist / Illustrator by the name of Robert Helmick. The drawings I have list him as the artist / illustrator in the 1940's. Both pencil sketches are of airial dogfights between American and German or British and German Aircraft. They are unsigned. All I have is a placard that came with the drawings. Drawing size is approx. 15" X 20" tablet paper. Very fine detail and quality. Thanks for any help or info provided.

Ideological domination of cultures can be associated with declines in learning. The problem with such domination is that true believers in any ideology, religious or not, lose their curiosity and their inclination to question, both of which are essential to the development of knowledge.
