What is Being Generous All About and How Can We Use This to Raise Money?

Society, and its individuals, need to work on developing a spirit of generosity. This generosity can appear in many forms:

· is this action helpful to our environment?

· is this purchase going to help some-one other than myself?

· is it okay to let this car move into the traffic ahead of me?

· is putting 10c in the donation tin going to add up to something bigger?

· is a smile and thankyou going to cost me anything?

If we all work on being generous - with our time, our smiles, our words, our help and our wealth, the world would be a much better place - less poverty, less hardship, less stress and anxiety, less rage.

And we would also be much better people - calmer, happier and with greater self-esteem.

There has to be a better way for everyone to help – and we believe that we have found it.

Sure, it is only one way but together we can start to build on that generosity of spirit and when we are all feeling good about the part we have played and the help we have given, then perhaps that feeling will flow on to other parts of our lives.

Perhaps we will be more relaxed when we are driving and some-one needs to move into our line of traffic, perhaps we will be nicer to the girl who just served us in the supermarket and then perhaps she will go home in her car and whilst driving not beep the horn and yell at the driver who just cut her off, and then maybe when that driver stops at the milkbar for a loaf of bread on the way home he’ll smile at the man behind the counter, and on and on. In the words of John Lennon, imagine all the people …..

So why don't we do this? The next time an opportunity presents itself to be generous, grab it with gusto and enjoy the feeling!
