Now emerging from the mist of a colorful and varied career, Ian Patterson was born early in is life somewhere in a long forgotten postal code. The mantra that he learned from his parents, while growing up on their farm was “if you want it done right, then do it yourself”.
That’s just what he did.
Ian Patterson is someone who’s been there, done that, printed the T shirt and wrote the book. A firefighter, soldier, yachtsman, skier, climber, mechanic, plumber, electrician, data technician, business continuity planner, and web writer are just some of the things he’s been.
He was a pescaterian before it was fashionable and is an avid animal lover and a longtime dog handler. He has travelled to most countries around the world. Set up home in three of them and learned their language and culture.

Beanbag chairs have certainly changed since I was young and are now bigger, more comfortable, and look a lot nicer. Bean bag chairs came into popularity in the ‘60s and ‘70s as a hip, comfortable family room seating option and now they’re making a comeback. A little while ago we took a look at some beanbag chairs with the intent of buying one for our granddaughter who often comes to visit and sleep over.
We were so impressed with the selection of bean bags and bean bag chairs that we are now looking at using beanbags for our home theater furniture. Beanbags are probably the most comfortable pieces of furniture that will ever invade our home. A friend put us onto the idea of setting up our media room with beanbag chairs as cool home theater furniture. Bean bag chairs will be an inexpensive, comfortable, and fun way to furnish our media room and will make us the envy of all our neighbors. Now we have started shopping for high quality bean bag chairs. We will accept no imitations or knock offs.
The bean bag furniture needs to be
- Hard wearing and durable as this is an investment that will last a long time.
- Have removable covers so that they can be easily cleaned
- Have childproof zippers to avoid accidents
- Fun and colorful
Choosing the right shape and material as well as size and color are very important. Bean bags come in several different materials and we want to mix the materials together so we can turn the bags over and have a completely different chair. We may want to use them in different rooms at different times.
Apparently the beans do compress in time so it was recommended that we top them up occasionally. Our beanbags will have built in zippers that will allow filling and emptying should we want to wash the cover or change the beans. We also wanted to be sure that manufacturers of beanbag chairs for children follow certain safety guidelines to ensure children will not sustain unnecessary injury.
As far as the comfort factor of beanbag furniture is concerned, I think it far outweighs traditional furnishings and will prove to be a hit with the children too. Providing comfortable seating and places to lounge for our friends is of primary importance for us.
We want comfortable beanbags that are tough enough for children to play rough on and comfortable to sit on.
I think we have found the beanbag chairs that we want on the internet and will hopefully have them in time for the holiday.
