Furniture Trend

Despite so many selections on home furnishings coming from all over the world, especially imports from far east in to North America, it seems like North American consumers are having more challenging time choosing the right furniture for their homes. People are confused, lost and tired of going store to store, finding low quality imports that are only price concentrated. Today for many retailers out there quality comes second and price comes first. Why? Because out there in this industry it is a Furniture War Zone. Anyone who sells something for few bucks less then the other is the winner of the game.

Well, North American are beginning to realize that yes, price is important but more important is the quality of goods. And now the trend is slowly but surely shifting back to domestic furniture which is geared towards quality first and then price. People are realizing that although there are some very good imports, but mostly are built very cheap and will last only for short time. Table tops are laminated; they bubble, or crack or peel. The hard wood they use are called Rubber wood and it grows in a tropical environment not suited for harsh winters of North America, therefore after only one change of seasons it might crack or split. The leather is another story. What is bi-cast? It is the inner layer of genuine leather normally thrown out to garbage in North America, but it is being sprayed to make it look like leather and made into sofas and chairs. Back in the 90s and well into 2005, North American markets were invaded by mass imports forcing many fine domestic manufacturers into either moving their facilities to Far East or shutting down. But as the price of fuel soaring and also consumers understanding that not all imports are equally good, then the trend has been slowly changing and now this change is rapid and in favor of domestic.
