Murphy beds – An alternative way of sleep
Murphy beds were invented to take care of space crunches in houses. They can be folded up and stored in a closet and act as a perfect solution for homes with limited space.
Due to space limitations, most Murphy beds do not have box springs. Instead, the mattress usually lies on wire mesh. These beds have been incorporated with glass, mirrors, lighting, or additional units for entertainment storage or computer centers which make them feel right in. Most Murphy beds were housed inside double-door closets, which, when opened, allowed the bed to be lowered to the floor when needed. It was first developed by William Murphy. He then patented the product in the early 1900s and then opened the Murphy Wall Bed Company.
Unlike earlier times when the Murphy bed had to be housed in a closet,modern beds systems are available which allow the bed to be framed and hidden within library-like bookshelves or stored within large furniture items. The Murphy bed is ideal for anyone living in a one bedroom apartment or studio apartment. This furniture system is also perfect for small bedrooms where nothing more than a bed would seem to be able to fit.
However, there are some important things that you need to remember while considering a Murphy bed. First of all, you need to make sure that the layout of the room is exactly the way you want it. With Murphy bed, it's a little more difficult to change the room around once it is fixed to the floor or wall. Furthermore, you need to make sure you can walk around the bed when it is folded down. A typical Murphy bed is out about eight feet from the wall to the end of the bed and it is annoying then to have to crawl on the bed to get to the other side of the room. Finally, you should try to make your Murphy bed unit more attractive by adding a bookcase on each side, or connect the cabinet to a home office desk. Be sure of the room decor and how it will look when the bed is up or down.
A Murphy bed is specifically designed to be concealed when not in use. The popularity of Murphy beds over the years owe to its usability, quality of hasena bed and solid mechanism. The amount of space that can saved using such a bed is commendable owing to the limited space available in today's modern homes.
