Stages of Property Drying

Some damages at home like fire and burst pipes are unexpected and hence cannot be prevented. For example, when the water pipes break suddenly, the whole building is saturated. Furniture, upholstery, carpets, etc. get wet and, unless you know the technique correctly, property drying is not very simple.

In the case of water damage, you need to take action and get the property dry fast. Degradation of materials and growth of micro-organisms are the two major consequences of water damage. The longer it takes for you to respond, the larger the effect. Presence of water in furniture and carpets for a long time leads to corrosion of the materials and growth of bacteria and virus, thereby resulting in various diseases.

The effective way for faster property drying would be to hire a restoration service. Drying of furniture and carpets is not a simple process. You need to know the kind of material, the kind of water that made it wet, the duration of time the things were saturated, etc. It is an elaborate technique, and you need some knowledge to do this without harming your property.

For property drying, there are various processes.

  • The first step in property drying is to extract the water from the material. A good restoration company will have the proper tools and facilities to do this job.
  • Next is to detect the level of damage. The moisture level in the saturated materials has to be measured and recorded.
  • Locate the source of the damage by finding out the leaks in various points in the pipe. This is an important step for property drying. If the source of the leak is not detected, the damage will continue leading to the complete destruction of all the furniture, flooring and upholstery in the building.
  • Next is the actual stage of property drying with specialist tools and other technical equipment. This is better done by a professional company.
  • Continuous measuring and recording of the drying process has to be done to know the level of progress. A good restoration company will have adequate methods to measure the progress and inform you.
  • An experienced restoration company will know how to repair and protect your electronic gadgets and appliances that got wet with the damage. To check whether all these goods got affected and restore them to working condition is a major part of professional property drying.
  • An important part of restoration is disinfecting the property of the fungal growth and moulds. This is imperative since it can lead to health issues for the inhabitants of the building. Prolonged stay in the presence of such bacteria-affected property can be the cause of various diseases and allergies developing.
  • Last but not the least part of property drying is deodorizing the rooms. Continuous presence of water in the household property can lead to strong odours, making a stay in that building extremely uncomfortable and difficult. A good restoration company can save you in this situation also. They will have effective deodorizing sprays that can fill the rooms with a pleasant fragrance.
