Welcome friends and visitors! I would like to start out by saying that Amazon's Kindle has taken me by surprise. I have a relatively small collection of books novels and magazines. And they do tend to take up a lot of space in my living room, but I have always taken pride in being able to look at them and derive a sense of accomplishment at each glance of my dusty book shelf.
From what I understand this new, wireless reader,can keep in storage upwards of 1500 books! And my favorite newspaper can be downloaded before it hits the newsstands.Oh but wait a minute,I used to relish the aroma of a newly opened newspaper. And what about all the wonderful dogs who used to feel so proud when they delivered the paper to their master? And the newspaper boys making a little extra cash in the early morning hours? What about all the public libraries, the dedicated librarians, the janitors that cleanup the dust? I wonder if we realize what we are sacrificing in the name of convenience and technology.
I have not purchased one of these kindles as of yet, but I have definitely added it to my wish list in spite of the potential sacrifices that I foresee in the not too distant future. Those of you who are interested in a little more details of the Kindle, I shall post a promotional video from YouTube that is quite intriguing.
