Blu-ray Players & Home Cinema

Just as DVD blasted VHS out of the water with its massively improved vision and audio quality, and extra flexibility, Blu-ray is now starting to overtake DVD as the usual home cinema format. Many of us already own HD-TVs, and if you want to use their high-spec, then you should invest in a Blu-ray player to really make the maximum of them.

Blu-ray discs have more than six times the capacity of DVDs, and can so contain much more photos and at a much greater quality. While DVDs had a max vertical resolution of 576 pixels, Blu-Ray discs can hold a huge 1080 pixel high image, displayed in full up to sixty times per minute. This is what is thought of as 1080p, and should be standard on the Blu-ray players you find. Along with an enhanced color handling system, this guarantees that you have a smooth, spotless picture that is as close to a cinema as you can get at home.

They not only have an improved picture, but Blu-ray players offer even greater quality of sound than before, with now even more surround sound channels present, and support for up to date Hi-D audio formats such as Dolby TrueHD.

If you are worried about having to replace your entire DVD collection, then don't be. Blu-ray players are complete backwards compatible, meaning that they are going to be able to play all your old DVDs. They also come with upscaling capabilities, meaning that standard DVDs will appear even greater than before on your HD-TV.

Try and get a Blu-ray player with as great a connectivity as possible. All Blu-ray players should come with an HDMI port to] attach to your Television , though you check to work out if a wire is included. Lots also include extra ports, for example a USB port to allow you to play media items from external memory devices, and an SD port so you can view your digital camera footage in spotless HD. More sophisticated players also contain an ethernet port so the player can update its software online.

Many Blu-ray players can even use this internet connection to offer you additional BD-Live content,eg removed trailers, scenes, or perhaps flick ringtones. You may also join up with some of many prospering BD-Live communities, where you are able to discuss or play video games.

Now with all these superb features present, you should make efforts to find the best equipment possible for your spend.
