When you are thinking of purchasing high quality self-defense products, MACE is the brand to look at. MACE was the first and original company to develop and sell pepper spray to the authorities, such as police, and to the public. Their reputation has been spotless in the industry because their products get the job done every time.
Since its beginning, MACE has been an innovator. Once they had a large share of the market, they didn’t simply stop with plain pepper spray, but went on to develop numerous products, including pepper batons, pepper foam, pepper gel, foggers and hot walkers – especially for joggers.
MACE has become so synonymous with self-defense tools that very often; people mistake the brand name with the product, as in, “I am going to buy some mace for self-protection.” That is when you know that the brand has permeated the market and is trusted by millions of people.
I must tell you that I wasn’t aware of the brand name back in the days when you couldn’t get pepper spray easily and you had to ask a friend whose husband was a policeman or in the military to help you purchase pepper spray and other self-defense tools that are easy to find and that we take for granted these days. Because I didn’t know how to get my hands on some sort of non-lethal protection, I ended up getting mugged and left with permanent injuries.
The interesting part of the story is that it was a nice late spring/early summer day just before noon. The sun was high in the brilliant sky and I was dressed “to the nines.” The whole attack took less than sixty seconds. I saw the man’s face and was able to identify him when I was taken to the police station to look at mug shots. Even though the police knew who he was, he got off scott free on a technicality. I wish I had been carrying pepper spray then (especially a key chain model, since I had my keys in my hand!), and I absolutely carry it with me now. I am not taking second chances.
At the time when I was mugged, crime wasn’t nearly as bad as it is now. Take it from me and learn from my lesson. Don’t become a victim. Look into non-lethal self-defense products now.
