Nintendo Wiiiiii..

Surprisingly or not, now, after 3 years from the release of Nintendo Wii on the home entertainment market, the console is still hard to find in stores and the price is still quite high – almost 250$. And although almost 50 million people have acquired the console, it seem that the world can't have enough of the Wii.

The main feature which makes the Wii so appealing to a very large demographic market, that is to almost everyone, is the interactivity feature. This feature allows the player be a part of the game and not only an outsider. Behind the interactivity feature stand 2 important technology advancements: an accelerometer and an infrared detection capability; the later can detect body movements in three dimensions.

Another reason for the success of Nintendo Wii may be the fact that, from the beginning the Wii was intended as a tool for fun for the entire family, ready to bring together family and friends of all ages. Because of this Nintendo has reduced the graphics capabilities, falling behind its main competitors – Microsoft Xbox 360 and Sony PlayStation 3. CEO - Satoru Iwata answered to all critics saying that their main concern is "about how many people we can get to play games" and not "fighting Sony".

Nintendo Wii is sold together with a sensor bar and with the Wii remote. If the former captures the movements done by the player, the latter helps the player to do the movements. Practically the Wii remote is very similar to a classical TV remote and the difference stands in its use. When playing Wii Sports the Wii remote cam be transformed one at a time in a baseball bat, in a golf club or in a tennis racket. So, when one plays, he is really playing, doing the specific movements of each game, only indoors.

The console itself is very small and has a smooth, elegant, white design. Moreover, in a matter of seconds the Wii console can be transformed into a Nintendo GameCube console, thanks to its compatible ports. Due to this fact, the player can enjoy a double number of games – the Wii games and the GameCube games. More games can be acquired from the "Game Library" thanks to the WI – FI connectivity and with the help of Opera Browser the user can search the World Wide Web.

What makes the Wii even more fun are the Mii – avatars which represent the player in different games, wherever this is possible. To sum it up, Nintendo Wii it's a great console for the whole family, it's fun and entertaining and offers the advantage of leaving the couch and taking actual part in the game.
