There are more and more incidents of crime involving the police use of stun guns rather than other lethal firearms. One reason is that with this type of weapon – such as a TASER Stun Gun – the perpetrator can be incapacitated and subdued without being killed or putting others at risk of being killed by stray bullets.
An excellent example of the successful use of the TASER Stun Gun in a dangerous situation appeared in the Derbyshire (UK) Telegraph on April 23, 2008, when a man was holding a woman and her three children captive. The man was armed with a Samurai sword, among other things, and was holding the people in a house.
The police cordoned off the area and eventually talked the man into letting the woman and children go, however; he continued to threaten a man in the house and also began harming himself.
At that point, the police approached and used a TASER Stun Gun on the man in an effort to protect the hostage, the officers and the man, himself. They said that they did not want to harm him, but wanted to protect everyone, keep him from hurting himself or his hostage further, and take him into custody, ending the ordeal.
This is exactly what happened. Police were able to apprehend the man and sent him by ambulance to the hospital, and then to jail. Police say this is the seventh time they have used a TASER Stun Gun in the past twelve months, and that the incident turned out well.
TASER Stun Guns are no longer just available to police and other authorities. They are available to everyday citizens who want to protect themselves and their families without using a gun and possibly killing someone.
