Troubleshooting Your Xbox 360 Problems - Heat Is The Biggest Issue With Your Console

I was in the middle of my Rock Band 2 game with drumsticks in hand when it suddenly happened; the red ring of death had attacked my Xbox 360. I knew it had happened to a couple of my friends before but when it happened to me I was totally shocked. This is why I want to share a few tips with you about how to avoid the red ring of death on your Xbox 360. I hope this information helps you to avoid the upset that I went through.

First, I recommend that you check the heat around your console because most game systems tend to overheat and this is a big contributor to the red ring issue. If you keep your Xbox 360 in an entertainment center, make sure it has enough ventilation and don't stack your electronics because this can cause more overheating.

If the tips above don't prevent the red rings from happening, here a few more tips to help fix the problem before you worry about sending it away for repair. Turn the console off and let it cool down for a while. Also, unplug any peripherals you may have attached and then plug back in only the minimum it needs to function. Turn everything back on and check to see if you still have the three red lights on your 360.

I hope these simple tips can help you avoid having to send your Xbox 360 in for repair, because most repairs will take a long time. Good luck and gaming!
