Why buy a PSP

The Play Station Portable is a handled game console developed by Sony Computer Entertainment and presented to the world on December, 2004 in response to the challenge brought about by Nintendo DS. The PSP has succeeded to be the first to have as a storage media an optical disk format, which is the Universal Media Disk (UMD) and the larger viewing screen. Even more, the PSP was created to be a multimedia device and that means that you can connect it to the Internet, you can listen to music, you can see movies on it and you can even use it as a phone through Skype service.

The PSP versions available now on the market are PSP 1000, PSP 2000 – known also as Slim & Lite  and PSP 3000. Rumor has it that a new version 4000 will appear this year and is likely to have a touchscreen. If the first PSP was received well by the fans, it did not succeed to surpass in sales its main competitor – Nintendo DS.

That situation changed with the arrival of the next version - PSP 2000 in 2007. PSP Slim & Lite is 33%  lighter and 19% slimmer than its older brother. Moreover, it has a twice bigger internal memory of 64 MB, a new battery that occupies lees space and lasts up to 7 hours (depending on the settings made ), a new smooth finish and new buttons for a better responsiveness. These major changes plus other small ones, make of PSP 2000 a good deal at a more or less 150 $ price.

The PSP 3000 was released in 2008 and has similar features with the PSP  Slim & Lite, such as the same RAM capacity – 64 MB, same storage capacity, same connectivity – WI-FI and USB 2.0, same battery duration and maintains even the same weight – 189 grams. A big novelty brought about by the PSP 3000 is the built in microphone, which can help you if you want to install Skype service on your portable play station.

So, why buy a PSP?  If you enjoy playing games outdoor the portable play station will offer you almost the same sensation of a game played on a home console and a little bit more, thanks to its other multimedia features.
