Your garden is an expression. It represents who you are and what you love. Adding herbs to your garden can allow you to further express yourself. Herbs are a great addition to any garden because of their appearance and aroma. Choosing the right herb garden plants will depend on what you are trying to accomplish. Herbs can fill in, or they can become your entire garden. With many different plants to choose from, you are only limited by your imagination.

If you are a beginning gardener, you may want to start with something simple. This does not mean you cannot have something, which will be attractive. Herb garden plants are all beautiful. You simply need to pick out a plant, which you can grow in the area you have chosen. One of the better herbs to get started with is basil. This plant creates a great smell, and is not damaged by too much light. As you get used to tending to your garden, you can diversify.

Those looking to cook with herbs want to select the ones they use the most. Proper care gives you usable product throughout the season. Make sure you plant your herbs where you can access them easily. This allows you to collect the herbs you want, when you want them. Remember when collecting herbs to cut the herbs close to the ground. It is a good idea not to use up all of your herbs as once they bloom, you can replant with the seeds they bear. Saving you quite a lot of money, long term.

You may want to use herbs for medicinal purposes. There are many different herbs, which have been proven to be of great value to your body. You can make teas or other herbal medicines. You can find recipes for many different herbal medicines to suit your needs. By then planting these herb garden plants, you will be able to make your own medicine any time you want. Herbal medicines have been around and used for hundreds of years. Skeptics need only give herbal medicines a try, and they will doubt no more.

Going beyond medicine, herbs are used in aromatherapy. Growing herbs in and around your home can create specific feelings. Simply smelling lavender causes most people to feel calm. Chamomile has a similarly soothing effect. There are many different herb garden plants you can find to create the feelings you desire. Having the ability to grow herbs in your home allows you to grow them year round. Dried clippings from your plants allow you to create a potpourri for any room in your home.

As you can tell, there are many different ways you can use herbs in your life. You don't have to choose just one role herbs play. You can choose different plants to accomplish several tasks at once. Because they are so attractive in the garden, you can't go wrong. Herbs are one kind of plant where the more you have; the better your garden looks. The hardest part about planting herbs is picking out the ones you want.
