If you're a novice gardener, then you might have come across this situation where in spite of a lot of effort and caring you put in for your plants, sometimes for reason unknown to you, they just do not prosper. It would have destroyed your motivation and you might want to call it quits and handle it all to your mother. However, if you have a passion for gardening, it might be worth spending some time to learn more about it and keep trying rather than giving up on a fantastic hobby. You'll soon learn the importance of fertilizers in successful gardening.

Fertilizers are an excellent way of producing good results as far as gardening is concerned, provided you know what you're doing. There are methods for using them effectively and improper usage of them can cause more danger to your plants than good. They are typically of 2 types, one which is dissolved easily in water and the other, which is not dissolved very easily in water. The first type of fertilizers often shows an instant result on the plants as they provide a quick supply of nitrogen to the soil.

Fertilizers have to be used more frequently in this case. However, in case of the second type of fertilizers, they usually will be retained in the soil for a much longer period of time as they do not dissolve in water easily. Hence these need not be applied as frequently as the first type. There are 3 types of fertilizers based on their composition; they are, organic, synthetic and liquid. Organic fertilizers are made of up natural materials like mulch, horse manure etc. and this makes them very natural, green and very friendly for the plants.

The most common type of fertilizers is synthetic and these are easily available in most fertilizer stores. They are made of different chemicals that are supposed to stimulate growth of plants. However they are not as environmental friendly as organic ones, but they produce even quicker results. The last type is the liquid type fertilizers where it is packed in a concentrated form and is required to be sprayed using a garden hose. Which one would you buy will depend on the kind of plants and your requirements. Important thing to note here is that we need to follow the techniques for using fertilizers strictly because incorrect method or quantity of fertilizers used may cause damage to plants.

If you really love gardening, then do not give up the hobby. Just do some research and learn more about the techniques and methods for effective gardening, including effective usage of fertilizers. Once you see the plants that you planted prosper and grow big, producing fruits, flowers and more greenery to the world, it will be incredibly satisfying and is worth more than all the time and effort you spent in taking care of them. Developing more green areas is extremely important to counter the excessive pollution caused by humans.
