Over the ages the garden Gnome has delevered a history of it's own. It's not just your ordinary yard decoration.You should get to know the culture of the Garden Gnomes before purchasing one.
The first reports of Gnomes can be traced back to the middle of nineteenth century in the German countries.At that time there were many craftsmen who produced these statues out of clay. Throughout the nineteenth century they spread in England and America.During the period of the world conflicts most of the factories producing Gnomes were nationalized and converted to making ammunitias and supplies. In the 60's plastic has replaced clay and Garden Gnomes were mass produced. iT was during that time they developed the notorious status of tacky lawn decoration. On the other hand many companies are trying to revive the traditional hand-made Gnomes.
The Garden Gnomes were and still are the protectors and lucky charms of the family.Any Gnomes enthusiast will share his knowledge with you. They are mostly vegeterian and enjoy life to the fullest. They are very helpful and know there way around the garden. It is said that having a Gnome in your yard will make your plants and flowers flourish. It is also believed that thay affect your perception of the world in a positive way.
However, there are some people who are not happy with the current position of the Garden Gnomes in our society. They are fighting for freedom for the Gnomes. It is also believed that Garden Gnome is enslaved until it's brought to the forest where it can be find it's true path in life. There are some radical groups which operate illegaly bu sneaking into people's yards and stealing the little figures. There is even a political movement which actively protests against the enslavement of Garden Gnomes. It doesn't matter if you are a true follower of Garden Gnome philosophy or you just think a Gnome would be a great addition to your lawn or back yard. Be sure keep your precious little statues out of the hands of the Gnome liberators or you'll have to make due without them.
