How to Choose the Best Fertilizer for Your Lawn

Now-a-days various types of fertilizers are available in the market. The fertilizer's label gives the vital information about the types of fertilizers that a particular packet contains. Actually, the plants in our lawn normally require three major nutrients: nitrogen, potassium and phosphorous. Nitrogen offers your lawn its affluent, jade color. Phosphorous and potassium together strengthens the grass roots. These nutrients work together to protect your lawn from insects and diseases. In other words, phosphorus and potassium are the nutrients which give your lawn a brawny immune system. Plants are just like human beings, they also require food to nurture themselves and by fertilizing your lawn, you are merely feeding it and providing it the vigor that it needs to flourish.

On a fertilizer packet, you will see three big written numbers. These numbers actually refers to the amount of potassium, nitrogen and phosphorus in the fertilizer. The first figure denotes the percentage of nitrogen content in the fertilizer, the second figure is the percentage of phosphorous in the fertilizer, and lastly, the third numeral is the percentage of potassium in the fertilizer. Generally, the percentage of nitrogen is the maximum. And in fact, the finest fertilizers are slow-release fertilizers that have at least one-quarter part as nitrogen

Organic lawn fertilizers are the good option against the commercial fertilizers as they take care of your lawn naturally. These fertilizers are eco friendly and do not pose any threat to human health. Organic lawn fertilizers are generally "slow-releasing", slow release means that organic lawn fertilizers discharge their nutrients over a phase of time and not the whole fertilizing action at once. In this manner, organic lawn fertilizers nourish and help to grow the plants over a great period of time. As the nutrients in organic lawn fertilizers are gradually discharged into the soil, the plant's root looks for them. Allowing them to mat over the uncovered patches. This fact in itself is a helpful method to manage weed growth, as weeds will find no place to grow.

Organic fertilizers are generated from natural origins and do not have any chemical materials that can eventually obliterate earth. In reality, organic lawn fertilizers do not repress grass in your lawn from growing as their synthetic complements do. In its place, organic lawn fertilizers encourage grass to not only develop but also keep them strong and vivacious.

Full organic lawn fertilizers are supposed to have all of the three major nutrients nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium required by the plants. Using the right kind of fertilizer promises greener lawns in your back yard.
