My Love For Growing Tomatoes

Whether you are growing tomatoes as a hobby, business or even for your own personal use, it is great fun and the satisfaction you get when you bite into your juicy tomatoes is unmatchable, when you know you have made them yourself. Going to my grandparents house when I was smaller really interested me as my grandad was a very keen gardener, with a big greenhouse full of tomatoes. He taught me the ropes and basics of growing tomatoes. After spending hours with him maintaining them, harvesting them and even the planting of new ones. I decided to try my hand at growing my own. The first lot of tomatoes I grew were terrible, a complete failure. I didn't realise how complex it was.

The best tip I could give anyone would to be patient. I got eager and tried to harvest my tomatoes before they were ready. So after all the hours of hard work I put in, I wasn't rewarded at all. My first tomatoes were disgusting! Also the temperature of the environment the tomatoes grow in is crucial. I find the warmer it is the better and bigger they grow during the "swelling process", this is when the tomatoes first start to form shape and grow. This gives them a swelling effect.

Growing tomatoes is a beautiful hobby with which you can seek brilliant rewards of great tasting vegetables. After you have grown tomatoes, it may lead on to more adventurous gardening activity, such as other vegetables and fruits.

You could save an awful lot of money from growing them instead of buying them from your convenience store.
