Potting Shed Plans; Do you Need Them?

My wife is really big time into her flower hobby. She has collected more gardening tools over the years than I could ever imagine. The piles of flower pots and bags of fertilizers she has to make her flowers grow is simply staggering. There was so much of that stuff filling up every nook and cranny of my garage I decided that I would start looking on the Internet for a set of potting shed plans. It would soon be her birthday and I thought that I could really make her happy if I could find a set of potting shed plans and build one for her.

Maybe this would be an impressive gift maybe it wouldn’t, I guess it depends on if I do a good job of it or not. However, when I started looking at plans I was quite surprised at all the different designs and styles of potting sheds that were available. Potting sheds are primarily designed for storage but you can build many useful options into them as well. You could add a small covered porch or build a small work bench inside; that way she could work inside when raining or out on the covered porch on hot sunny days.

You know, your shed can also be beautiful and be a great addition to any backyard landscape. Your shed can be more than just a storage box with a roof added on; sometimes these projects take on a life of their own. The only limit you have is your imagination and of course your budget.

Before you even think of starting your shed you need a detailed set of potting shed plans. The good ones will have a detailed material list and from that you will be able to get an exact cost for the materials you need to finish the structure. You will also be able to plan for how long it will take to complete the shed.

Before you even can start your shed you will probably have to get a building permit. To conform with most zoning laws, in North America, you will need a set of detailed plans before a permit can be issued and construction can start.

What kind of foundation will your new shed have? There are several options here and a good set of potting shed plans should have several choices. A bad foundation could cause your new shed to have other structural problems and your investment could be ruined before anyone has a chance to use it. One more thing that you need to think about is; what are you going to use to finish the project? I strongly suggest that you use a top quality paint or wood stain to protect your investment. Good quality finishing will insure that your shed will last for years and years.

As you can see a good set of potting shed plans is invaluable to you. You need to find a good set and there are several places you can look. You can look at your local library, bookstores or maybe even your building supply store. In me humble opinion the best place to find a detailed set of potting shed plans is online, but you need to be careful. I have looked at many free plans and have never found a complete set that will enable you to complete your project.
